Maybe you thought life, marriage, and parenting would be simpler or more rewarding by now, yet some days all you want to do is hide under the covers, scroll and series binge endlessly, or reach for comfort food instead of facing the stress and chaos at home. I get it—I’ve been there.
This podcast was created for people like you—parents and adults in the thick of it, juggling family, work, and personal growth, struggling to find balance and meaning in the daily grind. You’ll find honest conversations with other leading experts and practical tools to reduce stress, handle overwhelm, and care for yourself without guilt or shame. We’ll explore how to refill your cup, set healthy boundaries, and reconnect with your values so you have more energy and joy to share with your family. It’s about creating a life that feels meaningful to you without unrealistic perfectionism.

Quotes:
Dr. Robert Vallerand, a leading researcher on passion, distinguishes between two types of passion: obsessive and harmonious. He explains:
"Harmonious passion refers to a strong inclination to engage in the activity willingly and with a sense of volition. Obsessive passion, in contrast, refers to an uncontrollable urge to engage in the activity."
Dr. Philippe Rothlin, who coined the term "boreout," says: "Boreout is a growing phenomenon. It occurs when an employee is unmotivated by their tasks and has lost all enthusiasm for their work."
As Adam Grant puts it: "Rest is a supply of fuel. We take regular breaks to maintain energy and avoid burnout. Relaxing isn't a waste of time. It's an investment in wellbeing. Breaks aren't a distraction. They're a chance to reset attention and incubate ideas. Play isn't a frivolous activity. It's a source of joy."

Quotes:
Mignon McLaughlin: "A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person."
Patricia Love wisely said, "The deepest moments of intimacy occur when you're not talking."
Dr. John Gottman puts it, "Every positive thing you do in your relationship is foreplay."
Jackson Brown Jr.: "Love is when the other person's happiness is more important than your own."
Anne Morrow Lindbergh: "When you love someone, you do not love them all the time, in exactly the same way, from moment to moment. It is an impossibility. It is even a lie to pretend to. And yet this is exactly what most of us demand. We have so little faith in the ebb and flow of life, of love, of relationships. We leap at the flow of the tide and resist in terror its ebb. We are afraid it will never return."

Quotes:
"It's not our job to toughen our children up to face a cruel and heartless world. It's our job to raise children who will make the world a little less cruel and heartless."
"So often, children are punished for being human. They are not allowed to have grumpy moods, bad days, disrespectful tones, or bad attitudes. Yet, we adults have them all the time. None of us are perfect. We must stop holding our children to a higher standard of perfection than we can attain ourselves."
"Meekness is the principal protection from the prideful blindness that often arises from prominence, position, power, wealth, and adulation."
"Meekness happened for us when we had to choose to “let go and let God”. We literally did that. We did the deep work and humbled ourselves in a way we never had before. We finally started acknowledging how our personal and joint actions were harming one another and our home.”
"Remember, no matter the problem, kindness is always the right response."
"Life is amazing. And then it's awful. And then it's amazing again. And in between the amazing and awful it's ordinary and mundane and routine. Breathe in the amazing, hold on through the awful, and relax and exhale during the ordinary. That's just living a heartbreaking, soul-healing, amazing, awful, ordinary life. And it's breathtakingly beautiful."
